Two U.S. Navy destroyers reportedly ran the gauntlet through the Strait of Hormuz, successfully making it to the Persian Gulf despite coming under heavy Iranian attack.

Defense officials told CBS News that the USS Truxtun and USS Mason transited the strait, repelling fire from Iranian fast attack boats, missiles, and drones. Though the attacks were described as intense and sustained, both destroyers made it through without incurring any damage. The two vessels were covered by Apache attack helicopters and other aircraft, which helped repel the attacks.
