A new poll out Thursday reveals the top issues for voters in the upcoming elections and it looks like there is something Democrats and Republicans can agree on.
The economy and jobs are at the top of most voters’ lists this fall for when they head to the polls in just a few weeks. Eighty-nine percent of Democrats say the availability of good jobs is there number one priority while 91 percent of Republicans say the economy tops their list.
After agreeing that the economy and jobs are a top priority, the list of important factors for the election differ greatly with equal pay for women and the way income and wealth are distributed in the U.S. in the top five for Democrats, and the federal budget deficit and the situation with Islamic militants in the GOP’s top five.
The new Gallup poll suggests candidates looking to increase voter turnout for the upcoming midterm elections would be wise to focus on the economy.
