President Trump’s approval rating hit a record level in a new poll, jumping five points since April.
The poll, released by the Washington Post and ABC News, found that 47% of voters approve of the way Trump has been governing, while 50% disapprove of his job performance. Although, when pitted against the Democratic 2020 hopefuls, the survey found he wasn’t faring well.
In a match up with front-runner Joe Biden, Biden beats Trump by a 14-point margin, while Sens. Kamala Harris of California, Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, and Bernie Sanders of Vermont, all garner 51% support, while Trump brings in 43%, 44%, and 45%, against each of them respectively.
In terms of issues, 51% approve of the way Trump is handling the economy, which has broken records since he was elected. On other issues Trump doesn’t fare so well.
On tax policy, 42% approve; on immigration, 41% of voters approve; with foreign policy, 40% of those surveyed approve; and with healthcare, gun violence, abortion, and climate change Trump registers 38%, 36%, 32%, and 29%, respectively.
