WATCH LIVE: Jerome Powell delivers remarks on interest rate decision

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is set to deliver remarks on the central bank’s interest rate decision on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

Powell is expected to hold interest rates steady. The meeting will likely shed light on the economy’s response to the Iran war, which has sent fuel prices soaring.

This will be one of Powell’s final appearances as Fed chairman. Powell will be stepping down from his position at the end of his term on May 15.

WHO IS KEVIN WARSH, TRUMP’S PICK TO BE THE NEXT FEDERAL RESERVE CHAIRMAN?

Powell’s resignation comes as President Donald Trump’s Justice Department launched an investigation into his handling of the expensive Fed renovations earlier this year.

Trump nominated former Fed governor Kevin Warsh to replace Powell, but confirmation hearings have not been scheduled.
