ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — More than 62,000 New York residents have signed on to an effort to create a new “Stop Common Core” ballot line to allow voters to voice their concerns about the state’s new education standards.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino and attorney general candidate John Cahill filed the petitions with election officials on Tuesday. Astorino is leading the effort to create the new line, which he says will let voters know which candidates oppose the standards.
