A downtown D.C. charter school that ran out of money has been bailed out by the D.C. Public Charter School Board and will no longer have to close Wednesday. School for Arts in Learning Public Charter School, which serves many special-needs students, had relinquished its charter and struck a deal with another charter school operator to keep the K-8 campus open. But when the plan fell through last week, SAIL’s 140 students faced not completing the year. Officials said it would cost at least $75,000 to keep SAIL open through June 24, the official end of the school year. It will not reopen next year. – Lisa Gartner
