PERSONAL STATS

AGE: 24

NUMBER OF YEARS IN D.C. AREA: 4

NEIGHBORHOOD: Georgetown

1. FAVORITE NEIGHBORHOOD HANGOUT

Billy Martin’s Tavern (1264 Wisconsin Ave. NW). It’s a great place to grab a Monday/Tuesday night drink or Sunday brunch to catch up with friends. A few summers ago they did a price rollback to reflect 1934 costs in honor of their 75th anniversary; paying $5.93 for a filet and two sides was also a nice plus.

2. BEST MODE OF TRANSPORTATION

The Circulator. Runs just about everywhere I need and it only costs $1.

3. FAVORITE LOCAL SPORTS EVENT

Georgetown basketball during the NCAA tournament. I’m not sure if that constitutes as “local,” but everybody is doing a gamewatch somewhere when we’re not at the Verizon Center. I think we’re a dangerous team this year, but I’m hoping we can focus more on getting to the basket to create opportunities and rely less on our three-point game.

4. BEST PLACE FOR LIVE MUSIC

9:30 Club or the Rock and Roll Hotel. I like the former because it consistently brings the best musicians out there, and the latter because the venue is such that the audience doesn’t feel separated from the act.

5. BEST PLACE FOR OUT-OF-TOWN VISITORS

Adams Morgan. I don’t get out there nearly enough, but there’s one bar after another; it’s fairly unlikely you won’t find something you like. The pizza slices are also bigger than your face — always a good sign.

6. FAVORITE MUSEUM

Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. I will never forget going there as a kid and being in total awe. I got to touch moon rocks and look at huge aircraft — no child could turn that down. The documentary “Tranformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen” also confirmed my suspicions that at least some aircraft located there are in fact aliens meant to protect our home planet. Michael Bay, thank you for exposing the truth.

7. MOST ROMANTIC SPOT

The Georgetown Waterfront. I’m a huge fan of Farmers and Fishers down there; great food and drinks for a reasonable price, a combination like that isn’t easy to find in Georgetown.

8. FAVORITE WAY TO SPEND A LAZY SUNDAY

Biking around D.C. I’ve always been a bit disappointed that Georgetown lacks a Metro stop, but biking down to the monuments or around the greater D.C. area is a nice way to see what’s around.

9. BEN’S CHILI BOWL, OLD EBBITT GRILL OR CAFE MILANO?

Hypothetically, I’d say Cafe Milano. Unfortunately, it falls well outside my current pay grade. I’d have to say Old Ebbitt; I’m a huge fan of raw oysters, and they have a happy hour special on a fairly wide selection of raw bar items.

10. BEST RETREAT OUTSIDE THE DISTRICT

Old Town Alexandria. Great food, calm atmosphere — can’t ask for much more than that.

11. BEST RETREAT INSIDE THE DISTRICT

Pitango (1451 P St. NW). I’m big on gelato, and this place is other-worldly. The grapefruit and chocolate noir are especially notable.

12. BEST PLACE FOR LATE-NIGHT EATS

Tuscany Cafe (3261 Prospect St. NW). In our post-Philly P collegiate world, Tuscany reigns [as] king for late-night pizza and sandwiches. I’ve recently been on a pesto turkey kick.

13. PROUDEST PART OF LIVING IN THE D.C. AREA

Opportunities. People flock here to work on the Hill, but we can hold those jobs/internships during our semesters here. It’s truly incredible that we have so much at our fingertips. Politics never really interested me before coming here, but when you can run to the White House after a presidential election, you start to see the light.

14. EMBARRASSING PART OF LIVING IN D.C. AREA
