Play area for homeless kids

A new play area for homeless children officially opened Tuesday, filled with books, games and toys. The Bright Horizons play area is at the Community of Hope at 1111 Pennsylvania Ave. A team of early education and design professionals transformed a room in the shelter into the area, complete with curtains, reading nooks and play areas. The room was funded by a personal gift from Marguerite Kondracke, the chief executive of America’s Promise, and the Freddie Mac Foundation. It is the third Bright Space that Kondracke has sponsored.
