Maryland school board official who wished death on Trump in hospital resigns

A Maryland school board official is set to resign after writing on social media that she hoped President Trump dies from the coronavirus.

“Since he has tested positive for COVID19, maybe the country will get lucky and he will die,” the official, Jacqueline Fischer, wrote on her personal Facebook page. “Wouldn’t that be an act of karma!”

“He could care less how many Americans die from this even if he is the one who exposed them,” Fischer added. “I hope he dies from it. That would solve a lot of America’s problems.”

The Washington County Board of Education, on which Fischer has served for different periods since 2002, announced on Sunday that it was accepting her resignation.

“The Washington County Board of Education (WCBOE) will formally accept the resignation of Board member Jacqueline Fischer at the Board of Education’s public business meeting on Tuesday,” the statement said. “Mrs. Fischer’s resignation comes after posting comments regarding the President of the United States on her personal social media account.”

“The comments do not reflect the views, positions, or opinions of the WCPS or the WCBOE,” the statement continued.

The Republican Party of Washington County also released a statement approving of Fischer’s resignation.

“THANK YOU Ms. Fischer for your resignation. I would also like to thank the other members of the school board as well who helped make this possible,” the statement said. “We look forward to the conclusion of this situation on Tuesday when her resignation is official. Our community can now begin the healing process and work to build a better educational system deserving of our great county. “

Trump spent the weekend at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center following his coronavirus diagnosis late last week. After undergoing a treatment plan, the president was discharged from the hospital Monday evening.

“I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M.,” Trump tweeted Monday. “Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!”
