Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-FL)
office revealed photos on Tuesday of two sexual picture
books
that were found in
Florida
schools.

The books Gender Queer, It’s Perfectly Normal, and Let’s Talk About It have been discovered in schools across several counties in Florida, DeSantis’s deputy press secretary, Jeremy Redfern, told the Washington Examiner.

The infamous book Gender Queer follows the author’s “journey of self-identity, which includes the mortification and confusion of adolescent crushes, grappling with how to come out to family and society, bonding with friends over erotic gay fanfiction, and facing the trauma and fundamental violation of pap smears.”

In 2021, it was named one of the
most challenged
books in the country for its depictions of graphic sexual content that many deemed inappropriate for children. It has been banned by school boards across the country for this reason, while many have also fought to keep the controversial graphic novel on the shelves.

It’s Perfectly Normal is a children’s book
about
“changing Bodies, growing up, sex, and sexual health,” which is intended for those ages 10 and up. Meanwhile, Let’s Talk About It is a graphic novel
branded
as “the teen’s guide to sex, relationships, and being a human.”

“Found in multiple Florida schools: ‘Gender Queer,'” shared DeSantis’s communications director, Taryn Fenske, in a tweet on Tuesday.

Redfern further tweeted, “Found in a Florida school: ‘It’s Perfectly Normal.’ The cover says that this book is appropriate for 10-year-old children.”

According to the deputy press secretary, the book was found in Broward and Duval counties.

“Found in a Florida School: ‘Let’s Talk About It’ From the book’s own description: ‘Covering relationships, friendships, gender, sexuality, anatomy, body image, safe sex, sexting, jealousy, rejection, sex education… the first in graphic novel form,'” DeSantis’s press secretary, Bryan Griffin, wrote on Twitter.

According to DeSantis’s office, Let’s Talk About It was in Florida schools in Orange and Seminole counties.

DeSantis has been an outspoken advocate for parents and children and protecting them from inappropriate content. In March 2022, he signed the
Parental Rights in Education Act
into law. It prohibits classroom instruction on gender identity and sexual orientation from kindergarten through third grade.

The bill was smeared by some media as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

The Florida governor is heavily favored to enter the 2024 presidential race, in which he would compete against former President Donald Trump. DeSantis has beaten Trump in some prospective GOP nomination polls, but he is still bested by the former president in others.

A recent report
indicated
that he may be eyeing the summertime for an announcement of his 2024 bid.
