AUGUSTA, Maine — Officials say a state child care licensing supervisor who failed to take action for more than a year after inspectors discovered abuse at a Lyman day care center has been reassigned within the department and is no longer making licensing decisions.

Kenneth Albert, director of the Division of Licensing and Regulatory Services at the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, says the agency is overhauling how it handles child care licensing cases and expanding its licensing staff.
