Gas prices: Another day of increases at the pumps

Gas prices crept up across the country as the average price for a gallon of regular gas increased yet again this week. On Thursday, it now costs $3.455 per gallon, according to AAA. This was an increase from yesterday’s price of $3.449.

A silver lining in the increases is that gas prices are still slightly cheaper than a week ago, when they cost $3.46 for a gallon of regular. A month ago, gas was significantly more expensive, with regular gas costing $3.59 per gallon, while a year ago, it was $3.577 per gallon.

Mississippi is still the state with the cheapest gas in the nation with a gallon of regular-grade gas costing $2.929. California remains the state with the most expensive gas prices, coming in at $4.817 for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline.

Here are the gas prices for a gallon of regular-grade gas in and around Washington, D.C., and a few other states.

Washington, D.C.

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in the nation’s capital on Thursday was $3.658. This is a decrease from yesterday’s price of $3.67 per gallon. A week ago, gas was essentially the same price, coming in at $3.669 per gallon. A month ago, gas was $3.721 per gallon.

Maryland

In Maryland, a gallon of regular-grade gas costs $3.541 on Thursday. This is a decrease from yesterday’s price of $3.551 and from last week’s price of $3.543 per gallon. The state’s average gas price is also less expensive than it was a month ago when it was $3.544 for a gallon.

Virginia

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia on Thursday is $3.335. This is a decrease from yesterday’s average price of $3.343 per gallon. A week ago, regular-grade gas was $3.344 per gallon in Virginia, and a month ago, it was $3.398.

Delaware

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Delaware on Thursday is $3.474. This is less expensive than yesterday’s price of $3.481 per gallon. Both prices are more expensive than a week ago, when it cost $3.462 per gallon. It is also more expensive for a gallon of regular-grade gas now than it was a month ago, when gas cost $3.453 per gallon.

Pennsylvania

A gallon of regular-grade gas in Pennsylvania cost $3.634. This was a slight decrease from yesterday’s price of $3.637. A week ago, a gallon of regular gas was $3.661, and a month ago, gas was $3.741.
