This week, the Trump administration said it would offer up to $12 billion in support to U.S. farmers who are being excluded from export markets because of the ongoing trade war between the U.S. and its major trading partners.
“This support will help farmers manage disrupted markets, deal with surplus commodities, and expand and develop new markets at home and abroad,” the USDA explained in a brief statement describing the plan.
President Trump also tweeted an all-caps threat at the Iranian regime in response to a quote from Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, who said, “Mr. Trump, don’t play with the lion’s tail, this would only lead to regret.” Despite his tweet, Trump is keen on averting an all-out war with the Iranian regime, and it’s certainly in line with his campaign promises and current policy.
On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed that he has invited President Trump to Moscow. National security adviser John Bolton had announced this week that the White House’s invitation for Putin to visit the U.S. will be postponed until after special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation has been completed.
