Anti-nuke group offers to pay for Kim Jong Un’s hotel during Singapore summit with Trump

An international peace organization offered to pay for Kim Jong Un’s Singapore hotel during the upcoming historic summit with President Trump.

The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons is offering to cover the costs for the summit with their Nobel Peace Prize cash earnings, including the cost of the North Korean leader’s hotel. In a statement, the group referred to the costs as part of its efforts to promote denuclearization.

“Our movement is committed to the abolition of nuclear weapons and we recognize that this historic summit is a once in a generation opportunity to work for peace and nuclear disarmament,” the Geneva-based group explained.

ICAN won the Nobel Prize in 2017 for its work on exposing the threats of nuclear warfare and promoting peaceful solutions. The historic award included a large cash prize which they are using to continue promoting their cause.

“The Nobel Peace Prize included a cash prize and we are offering funds from the prize to cover the costs for the summit, in order to support peace in the Korean Peninsula and a nuclear-weapon-free world,” the statement continued.

President Trump announced on Friday that the historic summit between the two leaders will be taking place as scheduled on June 12.
