Dan Crenshaw attacked House Finance Committee Chairwoman Maxine Waters over a tweet where she sided with Iran’s claim that the drone shot down last week was over its airspace and not international waters.
“Trump, you get no credit for so-called stopping the strike against Iran. Why was the unmanned drone in Iran’s airspace? Why the surveillance? Don’t provoke and then pretend innocence,” the 80-year-old California Democratic congresswoman said Sunday night.

Crenshaw, a Republican representative from Texas and former Navy SEAL, said Waters was siding with Iran to attack President Trump. Iran has claimed the drone was over its airspace, but the U.S. has insisted it was actually over international waters.
“This is a shocking comment from a House Committee Chairwoman,” Crenshaw, 35, said. “She is literally repeating the lies of the Iranian regime. What a disgrace.
“Maxine Waters’ hate for Trump runs so deep that she is willing to take Iran’s side over the word of our military,” he added.

Trump had called off plans for airstrikes against Iran in response to last week’s attack on a U.S. drone. The president said he did so because he didn’t think the number of casualties resulting from the strikes would be proportionate to the downing of the unmanned drone.
The U.S. announced last week that it would be sending an additional 1,000 troops to the Middle East after a pair of oil tankers were attacked this month. Last month, four other tankers were targeted by Iran.
In addition to the troops, the U.S. has deployed the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group and a bomber task force to the region.
