President Trump said during a press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that he wanted questions from only reporters that are friendly.
“A friendly person from Turkey, please,” Trump said Wednesday. “Friendly — only friendly reporters, we like to see. There aren’t too many of them around.”
The press conference came the same day the House Democrats held the first public impeachment hearing. Trump said he did not watch the proceedings and instead met with Erdogan.
The two met to talk about Turkey’s treatment of the United States-allied Turkish forces along with Turkey’s purchase of a Russian arms system. The U.S. and Turkey came to a peace agreement last month with the Kurds, which was criticized by many as the U.S. caving to Turkish demands.
