The State Department is holding a press briefing after the Israel Defense Forces confirmed it killed Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

The briefing was scheduled to begin at 1:15 p.m. but is starting later than originally announced.

Sinwar’s death comes more than a year after the war in Gaza between Hamas and Israel began. The Hamas leader was considered to be the mastermind behind the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attacks against Israel.
