President Donald Trump confirmed Tuesday morning the Israel-Iran ceasefire “is in effect” after airing grievances earlier about both countries violating the agreement with attacks overnight.
While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had planned retaliatory attacks on Iran after he accused the regime of violating the ceasefire, he confirmed that after speaking with Trump, “Israel refrained from additional attacks.”
“ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly ‘Plane Wave’ to Iran,” Trump wrote in a post to Truth Social at roughly 7:30 a.m. “Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect! Thank you for your attention to this matter! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.”
Trump brokered and announced the ceasefire on Monday evening, ending what he has called the “12 Day War” between the two countries. Iran and Israel launched missiles at each other in the hours leading up to the ceasefire’s implementation. Iran said nine people were killed in Israeli strikes on Gilan. Five Israelis were killed and 20 were wounded in Iranian strikes on civilian structures in Beersheba, according to the Jerusalem Post.

The president said Tuesday morning that both countries had violated the terms of the agreement reached the prior day and targeted Israel for its actions.
“They violated it, but Israel violated it, too,” Trump said, adding, “I’m not happy with Israel.”
“I didn’t like the fact that Israel unloaded right after we made the deal. … They didn’t have to unload,” he continued in comments to reporters at the White House before departing for the NATO summit in The Hague. “We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing.”
In a post to Truth Social shortly before 7:00 am, the president urged Israel, “Do not drop those bombs.”
“IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!” he warned.
His warning came after Israel accused Iran of breaking the truce two hours after it came into effect, which Tehran denied.
After the Israel Defense Forces said overnight that it had intercepted Iranian missiles, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said he “instructed the IDF to respond forcefully to Iran’s violation of the ceasefire with powerful strikes against regime targets in the heart of Tehran.”
However, Netanyahu severely scaled back the scope of his response due to Trump’s push to sustain the ceasefire agreement, according to media reports.
While refusing to cancel attacks on the regime, Netanyahu decided to strike only one target after Trump gave him a phone call urging him not to attack Iran.
The ceasefire appeared to remain in place overnight despite the violations.
The peace deal between the two countries came after Israel carried out attacks seeking to wipe out Iran’s nuclear and military capabilities earlier this month, prompting retaliatory strikes from the regime.

Iran responded to calls for a ceasefire after the U.S. got militarily involved in the conflict over the weekend. During a top-secret mission, seven B-2 bombers flew 7,000 miles to Iran to drop 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs on three Iranian nuclear sites.
“The B-2 pilots did their job, they did it better than anybody could even imagine,” Trump said.
The president said the attacks “obliterated” the regime’s nuclear ambitions, which the United States has struggled for years to tackle.
“Iran will never rebuild their nuclear facilities,” he pledged on Tuesday morning.
