President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky are meeting for the latest round of peace talks on the Russia-Ukraine war at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort Sunday at 1 p.m.
During their meeting in Florida, Trump and Zelensky hope to move closer to bringing an end to nearly four years of deadly fighting between Russia and Ukraine. Zelensky told Axios on Friday that if Russia agrees to a 60-day ceasefire, he would bring a peace framework to a referendum in Ukraine.
TRUMP MEETS ZELENSKY ON HOME TURF AS PEACE TALKS HIT CRITICAL STAGE
That same day, the Ukrainian president teased on X, “We have agreed on a meeting at the highest level – with President Trump in the near future. A lot can be decided before the New Year. Glory to Ukraine!”
The discussions will likely center on topics such as territorial disputes over the eastern border of Ukraine and security guarantees. This weekend, leading up to the peace talks, Russia launched an onslaught of strikes against Ukraine that saw over 2,100 drones, 800 bombs, and nearly 100 missiles, according to an X post from Zelensky.
