Second healthcare worker tests positive for Ebola in Dallas

News broke early Wednesday of a second healthcare worker in Dallas testing positive for Ebola after treating the now deceased Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan.

Following this news, National Nurses United released a scathing statement saying there were no protocols in place to keep nurses safe while treating Duncan and that they received no hands-on training.

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital also released a statement saying compliance and employee safety are its top priorities.

The first Dallas healthcare worker to be diagnosed with Ebola, 26-year-old Nina Pham, is currently said to be in good condition.

While the number of people who have contracted the disease on U.S. soil is at two, the number of people at the epicenter of the outbreak in West Africa is growing by the day.

The World Health Organization estimates that there will be 5,000 to 10,000 new cases of Ebola weekly in West Africa by the first week of December.

According to WHO, the mortality rate of the outbreak is 70 percent.
