Trump gives $100K salary donation to HHS for coronavirus fight

President Trump again delivered on his promise to donate his entire presidential salary by cutting a $100,000 check to the Department of Health and Human Services.

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham announced on Tuesday that Trump donated his paycheck to help the federal government in its effort to combat coronavirus.

“President Trump made a commitment to donate his salary while in office. Honoring that promise and to further protect the American people, he is donating his 2019 Q4 salary to HHS to support the efforts being undertaken to confront, contain, and combat coronavirus,” Grisham said.

Since the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December, the COVID-19 virus has infected more than 92,000 individuals worldwide and killed more than 3,100. Seven Americans have died of the illness. Congress has been working on a supplemental funding package to address the possible spread of the coronavirus.

Trump has divvied up his salary to various government agencies since taking office. Previous donations include a payment to the Office of the Surgeon General for its fight against opioid addiction, a check to the Department of Homeland Security for the southern border wall, and a donation to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.
