A plane arriving at John F. Kennedy airport in New York has been quarantined after passengers fell ill.
The Emirates flight from Dubai arrived Wednesday morning and was met by Port Authority Police and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials, who were waiting to check the passengers who reported feeling sick on board the flight, NBC New York reported.
The CDC said about about 100 passengers, including some members of the flightâs crew, fell ill.
The passengers âcomplained of illness including cough and some with fever,â spokesman Benjamin Haynes told the Washington Examiner.
Emirates Airlines, however, said the number was far lower at around 10.
“Emirates can confirm that about 10 passengers on #EK203 from Dubai to New York were taken ill. On arrival, as a precaution, they were attended to by local health authorities. All others will disembark shortly. The safety & care of our customers is our first priority,” the airline said in a tweet.

Itâs unclear what caused the passengers to become sick.
Haynes said the CDC is evaluating passengers, âincluding taking temperatures and making arrangements for transport to local hospitals for those that need care.â
The passengers who were not sick were allowed to continue their travel plans, he said.
