Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., vowed the House-passed healthcare bill will be considered in a timely manner, but not shoved through the upper chamber just to get it to President Trump’s desk quickly.
Although some Senate Republicans have said the bill does not do enough or does too much, Blunt promised the revised American Health Care Act is “not dead on arrival.”
Blunt also said the bill will not immediately be brought to the floor either.
“Obviously if we’re successful we have to do something that either gets 50 senators and the vice president or 60 senators for even more broad-based change. We ought to be looking at both of those options,” Blunt added.
Thirteen senators — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, along with Lamar Alexander, Ted Cruz, Tom Cotton, Cory Gardner, Mike Lee, Rob Portman, Pat Toomey, Mike Enzi, Orrin Hatch, John Cornyn, John Thune and John Barrasso — were tapped this week to study the healthcare bill as part of a working group.
