WATCH LIVE: RFK Jr. and FDA Commissioner announce removal of synthetic dyes in food

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Marty Makary will make a joint announcement at 4 p.m. Tuesday banning synthetic dyes in food.

The FDA has approved 36 color additives for use in food, including nine synthetic dyes — one of which is Red 3, a dye the agency banned in January.

Some studies have found a link between these dyes and neurological problems in children.
