Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. took to X on Friday afternoon to defend White House chief of staff Susie Wiles from attacks made by “Make America Healthy Again” movement supporters.
Kennedy blasted what he called “chaos agents” for attacking Wiles as not being aligned enough with the MAHA agenda.
“The MAHA movement has no better friend in Washington than @SusieWiles, who has supported every effort to end the chronic disease epidemic and restore health freedom to every American. A small number of chaos agents are now targeting Susie out of ignorance or malice,” the HHS secretary wrote.
Though Kennedy did not specify which “chaos agents” he was referring to, his comments came just days after former HHS official and COVID-19 vaccine critic Dr. Steven Hatfill criticized Wiles. He was fired from the agency in late October.
Hatfill and former HHS official Gray Delany had criticized Kennedy’s principal deputy chief of staff, Stefanie Spear, saying she wanted to “control” the secretary, but Hatfill turned his ire toward Wiles.
“I think, ultimately, behind it is Susie Wiles. Unfortunately, she’s President [Donald] Trump’s chief of staff. They didn’t want the status quo changed, and they’ve jumped into bed with Big Pharma,” Hatfill said. “There’s not going to be any criminal prosecutions of [Dr. Anthony] Fauci and these other people; there’s not going to be any RICOs [racketeering charges]. You’re not going to break Pfizer up.”
MAHA influencer Tiffany Ciani also criticized Wiles, highlighted in a post from MAHA social media personality Holden Culotta.
Kennedy slammed the dissent in his X post, which was then re-posted by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
“Let’s focus on our extraordinary achievements to date and the monumental work that still needs to be done. I refuse to be distracted. Let’s build our coalition instead of splintering it,” Kennedy said.
“Susie’s leadership has helped the Administration clinch one historic MAHA agenda victory after another: from getting artificial ingredients out of our food supply to restoring Gold Standard Science in our public health bodies,” White House spokesman Kush Desai said. “Those who are complaining aren’t doing it in good faith and they clearly are not aligned with the historic MAGA agenda she has helped President Trump build since 2016.”
Kennedy also came to the defense of Spear, saying that although she “drank the Kool-Aid of Trump Derangement Syndrome,” she had a “come-to-Jesus moment during the 2024 presidential campaign.”
“We got to see the campaigns in action from front row seats and realized the real threat of dictatorship in America wasn’t President Trump,” Kennedy wrote, “But a heartless technocracy controlled by the Deep State [Democratic National Committee]. President Trump has no more committed loyalists than Stefanie Spear.”
VANCE PRAISES MAHA MOVEMENT IN WAKE OF GOP CONCERNS OF SHAKEN SUPPORT
Wiles has made headlines in the MAHA world before. After senior vaccine regulator Dr. Vinay Prasad at the Food and Drug Administration resigned following criticism from right-wing influencer Laura Loomer that he was “left-wing,” he was reinstated several weeks later. Wiles played a part in his return, Politico reported.
HHS did not respond to the Washington Examiner‘s requests for comment.
