President Trump on Tuesday cheered a Fox News report claiming the $18 billion border wall will pay for itself because of the decline in crime, drugs, and illegal immigrants that the wall will create.
“According to the Center for Immigration Studies, the $18 billion wall will pay for itself by curbing the importation of crime, drugs and illegal immigrants who tend to go on the federal dole…” Trump quoted in a tweet Tuesday.

During his campaign and at various times while in the Oval Office, Trump has said Mexico will pay for the wall. However, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has held firm that the Mexican government would not be contributing to the funding of the border wall.
In a second tweet on the topic, Trump said California’s so-called “sanctuary city” policies are illegal and unconstitutional, and allow “dangerous & violent criminal aliens” to prey on innocent Americans.
“California’s sanctuary policies are illegal and unconstitutional and put the safety and security of our entire nation at risk,” Trump tweeted. “Thousands of dangerous & violent criminal aliens are released as a result of sanctuary policies, set free to prey on innocent Americans. THIS MUST STOP!”

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf warned illegal immigrants last month that federal immigration officials could be conducting a raid to deport illegal aliens in the coming days.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the Department of Justice opened a lawsuit against California for failing to cooperate with federal immigration laws, a move California Gov. Jerry Brown calls an act of war.
