Weekly Examiner: Immigration takes center stage

The focus this week in Washington, D.C. was squarely on immigration. President Obama on Thursday night announced executive actions he will be taking on immigration. His plan is aimed at stopping deportations for more than four million undocumented immigrants. He made a point of clarifying that the actions he’s taking are not amnesty.

His sweeping actions include three main points. The first is bolstering border security, the second is focusing resources on deporting “felons, not families.” The third is making it easier for high-skilled immigrants to stay and contribute to the nation.
