23% of immigrants in US are here illegally

Nearly 1-in-4 foreign-born immigrants in the United States are here illegally, according to an analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data.

An estimated 10.5 million are “unauthorized immigrants,” said the analysis from Pew Research Center.

The latest posting from Pew comes as the administration’s immigration offices ready to launch a plan to locate some 2,000 illegals who have been served with deportation papers but who have refused to leave. Most have criminal records.

Pew has determined that there are 35.2 million legal immigrants and 2.2 million temporary lawful immigrants in the nation. Its latest post explained how it breaks the numbers down.

In another report, it said there are 60 million Hispanics in the country. The current border crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border is mostly driven by Latin Americans trying to get in.
