Mexico’s finance chief: ‘Under no circumstance will Mexico pay’ for Trump’s wall

Mexico’s powerful finance secretary said there is no way his country will pay for Donald Trump’s “terrible” plan to build a wall along its border with the United States.

“Under no circumstance will Mexico pay for the wall that Mr. Trump is proposing,” Luis Videgaray said in a televised interview late Wednesday.

“Building a wall between Mexico and the United States is a terrible idea. It is an idea based on ignorance and has no foundation in the reality of North American integration.”

The Republican presidential front-runner has continually blasted Mexico and the U.S.’s immigration policies, accusing the country of sending rapists and drug runners across the border into the U.S..

Trump has insisted throughout his campaign that he will build “the greatest wall you’ve ever seen” and “Mexico will pay” for its construction.

Two former Mexican presidents, Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderón, have blasted the idea to build a wall, with Fox saying, “I’m not going to pay for that f–king wall.” Calderon compared Trump to Adolf Hitler.
