VIDEO — Boehner: House will fund DHS, fight Obama on immigration

House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio., said Tuesday the House plans to pass legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security, but will also work to stop President Obama’s executive actions on immigration.

The funding of DHS has become a political football of sorts over the past week as congressional Republicans have held the department hostage in an attempt to strip President Obama’s executive actions on immigration. Last Friday, Republicans filed a $39.7 billion bill that would fund the department through September. However, lawmakers were expected to attach amendments that would prevent immigration authorities from using funds for Obama’s recent executive orders.

The White House has made clear it will veto any legislation aimed at taking down the president’s executive orders.
