Rep. Buddy Carter commits to continue attempt to impeach Alejandro Mayorkas

Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA) has not given up on impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Carter appeared on Cavuto: Coast to Coast Thursday to give an update on Mayorkas’s job performance when it comes to border security. The Georgia representative suggested a second impeachment effort is in order after fellow Georgia colleague Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) backed off from an inquiry last year.

“I voted for it the first time, I’ll vote for it again,” Carter said of the impeachment inquiry, adding that Mayorkas “does need to be impeached. He is not doing his job at all. He’s not following the law.”

Carter slammed what he referred to as the Democratic strategy to “just throw money at it.” According to Carter, the more of the national budget that goes into protecting the border, the more people will care about it.

“Everybody says, ‘Why don’t y’all just stop this? Why don’t you pass laws that will stop this?’ There are laws on the books that do stop this. You got to enforce them, though,” Carter said. “Well, it’s going to take more than that. It’s going to take two things: it will take policy changes and following the law, making sure that you are enforcing the law. That is what Mayorkas is not doing.”

Last year, a bill successfully passed the House to reduce Mayorkas’s salary over his job performance amid an influx of immigrants at the southern border.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection processed more than 302,000 people at the U.S.-Mexico border in December alone. This is in addition to the over 10 million immigrants who have reportedly entered the country illegally since Biden took office. It is the most recorded in that amount of time of any administration.
