Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. threw his support behind Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) in his dispute with the Biden administration over the border.
In a post on X, Kennedy said that Abbott was left with no choice because of President Joe Biden’s immigration decisions.
“Texas is right. Biden’s failure to secure the border leaves states no choice but to take matters into their own hands,” he said. “As President, I will end this humanitarian crisis once and for all. I will secure the border and destroy the business model of the drug cartels. A country without borders is not a country at all.”
The stance from the Democrat-turned-independent reflects the eclectic nature of his campaign, embracing such diverse positions as vaccine skepticism, support for reparations, and a tougher immigration policy.

Kennedy was joined in his support for Abbott by the leading Republican candidate for president, former President Donald Trump, who threw his support behind Abbott just hours after Kennedy.
“Instead of fighting to protect our Country from this onslaught, Biden is, unbelievably, fighting to tie the hands of Governor Abbott and the State of Texas, so that the Invasion continues unchecked,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social. “In the face of this National Security, Public Safety, and Public Health Catastrophe, Texas has rightly invoked the Invasion Clause of the Constitution, and must be given full support to repel the Invasion.”
