Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas bashed Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX), saying he wasn’t an example of good governance.
In an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union, Mayorkas rebuked Abbott for saying that no new immigration laws are needed and accusing Biden of not enforcing border security laws.
“Couldn’t be more wrong, couldn’t be more wrong,” Mayorkas said in response to Abbott’s statement.
“This coming from an individual who is purposefully refusing to coordinate, communicate, collaborate with other officials, and trying to wreak havoc in other cities and states across the country,” he continued. “That is not a model of governance. And he couldn‘t be more wrong.”
To further his claim, he pointed to an attempt by former President Donald Trump to close the border, which was blocked by the courts.
Mayorkas tried to portray the Biden administration as being tough on immigration, touting its deportation statistics. Under the Biden administration, the United States has experienced a record-shattering influx of illegal immigrants.
