Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) suggested President Joe Biden‘s handling of the border crisis is reason enough to remove him from office.
Vance appeared on Sunday Morning Futures, discussing the increasing number of migrants attempting to enter the country illegally. According to the senator, the blame lies at Biden’s feet.
“So we have a problem. It is a problem called Joe Biden, and unless we get him out of the Oval Office, we’re never going to have a secure border because he doesn’t have the will to do basic border enforcement,” Vance said.
Biden spent his administration enacting over 90 executive orders to undo former President Donald Trump‘s border policies, among them Title 42, which restricted immigration amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“And I have to say, Maria, it’s not just a radical departure from the Trump border policies, it’s in some ways a radical departure from the Obama border policies,” Vance said to Sunday Morning Futures host Maria Bartiromo. “Barack Obama paroled about 5,000 illegal aliens per year. Joe Biden is paroling close to a million per year, including the person who brutally murdered Laken Riley.”

In mentioning Riley, Vance was referring to the Augusta University nursing student whose body was discovered on the campus of the University of Georgia on Feb. 22. José Ibarra was an illegal immigrant living near campus and has been arrested in connection to her death. He faces charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing the death of another.
Ibarra was notably arrested in the United States prior to the alleged crime, and authorities knew he was an illegal immigrant but released him back into the country rather than deport him.
