Carson: Syrian refugee crisis a ‘false choice’

GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson said Tuesday that allowing or not allowing Syrian refugees into the U.S. is a false choice.

“It’s a false narrative that we only have two narratives: to bring in thousands of Syrian refugees or to turn our backs in cold-hearted indifference. We have another option and that is to support the safe havens that they have over there, you know, Jordan has plenty of space for them and all they need is more financial support,” the former neurosurgeon told Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

Carson, ranked sixth in the Washington Examiner’s power rankings, added that fellow candidate Donald Trump’s calls to ban foreign Muslim immigrants and refugees from entering the U.S. is a form of discrimination that goes against the Constitution.

He said it is critical for any person entering the country that they place American laws over any personal religious values that would precede the laws of the land.
