Drudge, conservative talkers featured in immigration hit on Jeb Bush

A key Democratic group is getting in on the GOP’s bashing of Jeb Bush’s support for immigration and “Dreamers,” pulling together a video highlighting the conservative assault on the likely 2016 Republican presidential hopeful this week.

The video from American Bridge 21st Century features a headline from the Drudge Report and comments from talkers like Laura Ingraham. It’s titled: “Conservatives bash Jeb Bush over immigration.”

The video also pulls a clip from CNN in which Bush talks about populating Detroit with immigrants and speeding up citizenship for “Dreamers.”

American Bridge President Brad Woodhouse told Secrets that Bush’s bad week compares with that of another Republican, Illinois Rep. Adam Schock, who came under fire for spending $100,000 in taxpayer money redoing his Hill office with a “Downton Abbey” look and dumping an advisor who made racially insensitive posts on Facebook.

“Jeb Bush should be thankful to Adam Schock — if not for him, Jeb would have had the worst week in Washington,” said Woodhouse. His group acts as a watchdog on the GOP.

Immigration is one of a handful of issues where Bush’s mainstream positions clash with conservatives who play an outsized role in the early primary and caucus states during presidential election years. He is also under fire for backing Common Core educational standards.
