Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) wished law enforcement “good luck” in finding the illegal immigrant he’s harboring in his home.
Murphy made the revelation this past weekend during an interview with Blue Wave New Jersey, a progressive grassroots organization.
“I don’t want to get into too much detail. But, there’s someone in our broader universe whose immigration status is not yet at the point that they are trying to get it to,” the governor said. “We said, you know what, let’s have her live at our house above our garage, and good luck to the fed coming in to try to get her.”
Trump “border czar” Tom Homan warned to take heed of harboring illegal immigrants prior to arrests by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Homan guaranteed he would enforce the law “without apology” in sanctuary cities.
“When we find that criminal, he’s most likely with others, and they’re going to go too. So if you want to be a sanctuary city, you’re going to get exactly what you don’t want: more agents in the community and more noncriminals arrested,’” Homan said on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.
Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) called it “so embarrassing” that the state’s Democratic governor encouraged breaking the law in a Fox News interview on Monday.
“He is the chief executive, the CEO of the state,” said Van Drew, who sits on the House Judiciary Committee, on The Will Cain Show. “You know what I see? ‘It’s justice for thee, but not for me’. So, it’s OK for him to break the law, then maybe it’s OK for people to go into stores and steal stuff because they just don’t feel like paying for it or they think it’s too expensive. Maybe it’s OK to attack a police officer because you just don’t agree with law enforcement or you just don’t happen to like this individual. Come on. This is America. We have the rule of law. What the governor is doing is awful, and it’s disappointing.”
Murphy’s comments reflect many other democratic officials defending criminal illegal immigrants in an effort to fight back against President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.
