The Trump White House: Week 93

President Trump’s 93rd week in office started on a somber note as a man began shooting inside the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, killing 11 Jewish worshipers. During the shooting, the gunman yelled, “All Jews must die.”

Trump immediately condemned the hateful act as the gunman was taken into custody. He and first lady Melania Trump visited Pittsburgh days later to pay their respects to the victims.

Additionally, Trump unveiled that he’ll be signing an executive order soon that will address many issues with our immigration system. Earlier in the week, Trump suggested that he would end birthright citizenship through an executive order. At this time, it’s still unclear whether the president will include ending birthright citizenship in his executive order.

While Trump contends he can end birthright citizenship through an executive order, House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., pushed back, saying he has to follow the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.

In an effort to save the House and Senate, Trump campaigned in Missouri and Florida to give Republican candidates state Attorney General Josh Hawley and Gov. Rick Scott and Rep. Ron DeSantis, respectively, a bump as they head into Tuesday’s midterm election.
