Christopher Tremoglie slams ‘toxic’ rhetoric about ICE officers

Washington Examiner commentary writer Christopher Tremoglie blamed the increase in threats against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers on “rhetoric coming from the Left.”

“What the Democrats are doing, their rhetoric — calling them fascists, brown shirts, Gestapo — it’s led to a 1,300% increase in violence against ICE agents and a 3,200%, according to the Department of Homeland Security, of vehicle attacks against ICE agents. Why are these never on the news?” Tremoglie said.

“There was an attack on July 4, in Texas, a terrorist plot where the snipers were trying to lure ICE agents out of the facility,” Tremoglie added. “There was an attack in Dallas in 2025 in which a sniper tried to take out ICE agents. This is all the result of this inflammatory, radical, toxic rhetoric coming from the Left.”

The suspect in the July attack was ultimately captured by law enforcement. Then, the suspect in the Dallas attack died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in September.

Tremoglie noted that ICE has arrested roughly 2,500 illegal immigrants in Minnesota who were convicted of a variety of crimes from drug trafficking to murder.

“Why would anyone want to stop and prevent these law enforcement officers from doing their jobs to get these monsters out of their communities? It doesn’t make any sense,” Tremoglie said.

This comes as the DHS reported a 1,153% increase in assaults against ICE officers in 11 months. Additionally, the number of death threats made against ICE officers increased by 8,000%.
