Jeh Johnson defends Obama’s executive actions

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson defended President Obama’s executive actions on immigration Tuesday on Capitol Hill as Republican lawmakers continue to argue the White House overstepped its authority with the president’s actions.

Johnson insisted Tuesday the White House was within its constitutional rights when Obama announced his executive actions last month and added many parts of the president’s plan are “common sense.”

Speaker of the House John Boehner, R-Ohio, said Tuesday Republicans have little authority to counter the president’s actions directly, but the party is still looking at ways to stop the president from moving forward with his plan.
