‘South Park’ takes on Donald Trump

South Park” began its 19th season last week skewering everything it missed during their summer hiatus, from Caitlyn Jenner to Tom Brady and the deflategate scandal, and Wednesday night it took on Donald Trump.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker went after Trump and his Mexican immigration mantra, using an elaborate allegory involving Canadian immigrants and a Canadian version of the billionaire mogul to satirize the current political landscape in the U.S.

The crux of the episode involved an influx of Canadian students to South Park Elementary School, which did not sit well with teacher Mr. Garrison, who “South Park” has often used as a vessel to take on politically correct culture.

Garrison decided to take his anti-Canadian immigration stance nationally, running for president under the slogan,” F— them all to death. Let’s make this country great again.” This appeared to be an homage to Trump’s campaign battle cry of “Make America Great Again.”

It turned out Canada had built a wall on its border to keep Americans away because, as a Canadian border guard puts it, “We just don’t want you raping our women and stuff.”

In another twist, Canada had elected a politician very similar to Trump, right down to the hair, which is what caused a mass flood of immigration from Canada to the U.S.

“There were several candidates during the Canadian elections,” said a Canadian immigrant during the episode. “One of them was this brash a—— who just spoke his mind. He didn’t really offer any solutions. He just said outrageous things. We thought it was funny. Nobody really thought he’d ever be president. It was a joke. But we just let the joke go on for too long. He kept gaining momentum, and by the time we were all ready to say, ‘Okay, let’s get serious now. Who should really be president?’ He was already being sworn into office. We weren’t paying attention!”

Garrison eventually gets through the Canadian border wall, only to find a completely deserted country except for Canadian President Trump. Garrison proceeds to fulfill his campaign promise, and once Canadians learn that Canadian Trump is no longer in charge, they flock back to Canada in droves.

Garrison returned to the U.S. a conquering hero. The episode ended with him and his running mate, none other than Caitlyn Jenner, heading to Washington, D.C., to continue his campaign.

The current season of “South Park” is available on Comedy Central’s website.
