VIDEO: Immigration debated ahead of Obama’s announcement

Congressional Democrats and Republicans debated President Obama’s planned announcement on immigration Thursday on Capitol Hill.

Republicans vowed to act swiftly in Congress while Democrats remained cautiously optimistic over Obama’s executive actions that will include deportation protection for up to five million illegal immigrants.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and current Senate Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., argued that President Obama’s plans are no different than executive actions past presidents have made. Republicans meanwhile insist the White House is overstepping its constitutional authority.

Obama will travel to Nevada Friday to sell the American public on his action.
