President Obama drew praise and criticism for his refusal to use the phrase, “Islamic extremists,” to describe the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.
“We are not at war with Islam,” Obama said on Wednesday. “We are at war with people who have perverted Islam.”
Obama’s most vocal criticizer was former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani. He said he believes the president doesn’t love America.
On Thursday this week, Obama announced three new national monuments. One will be located in Hawaii, one in Colorado, and one in Chicago. Along with the new monuments, Obama announced a new program to give fourth graders and their families free admission to national parks for a year.
