Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) said he is not excluding the “possibility” President Joe Biden‘s alleged mishandling of classified documents jeopardized national security.
Schiff did not rule out the possible threat but said he needed more evidence when asked if Biden put national security in danger by Jonathan Karl on ABC’s This Week Sunday.
CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS CONTROVERSY RAISES QUESTIONS ABOUT BIDEN’S THINK TANK
“We have asked for an assessment in the intelligence community of the Mar-a-Lago documents,” Rep. Schiff tells @JonKarl.
“I think we ought to get that same assessment of the documents found in the think tank, as well as the home of Pres. Biden.” https://t.co/ndQmL4Gr7U pic.twitter.com/jyAANuvTLP

“I don’t think we can exclude the possibility without knowing more of the facts. We have asked for an assessment in the intelligence community of the Mar-a-Lago documents. I think we ought to get that same assessment of the documents found in the think tank, as well as the home of President Biden,” Schiff said. “I’d like to know what these documents were. I’d like to know what the IC’s assessment is, whether there was any risk of exposure and what the harm would be and whether any mitigation needs to be done.”
The former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee previously claimed former President Donald Trump “and his team knowingly put our national security at risk” based on how the former president allegedly mishandled documents.
Schiff also stated that he agreed with the Justice Department’s decision to appoint a special counsel to probe the president but also said he “would like to see Congress do its own assessment.”
