A newly released video by the military shows the moments before a Navy trainer jet collided with a large bird that caused it to crash into a nearby neighborhood in Lake Worth, Texas, last year.
The footage, obtained by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, occurred while the jet was descending to a runway at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, according to the outlet. The jet, a T-45C Goshawk, was being flown by a military instructor and a student pilot who were on a training flight at the time.

In the recording, three birds can be seen flying past the cockpit before a fourth one appears directly in front of the plane’s view. The bird can be seen falling off the right side of the video toward the plane’s engine before the alarms start sounding off throughout the cockpit.
The pilots can immediately be heard jumping into action, telling control that they were “not going to make it,” to the landing zone.
“Stand by to eject. Pull up! Pull up!” yelled one of the pilots in the video before the jet is seen crashing toward the ground and the video cut off.

The bird flew into the jet’s single engine, causing it to crash and racking up almost $47 million in damages. No one was harmed in the crash, although the plane did damage multiple homes before stopping in a backyard, according to the newspaper.
Both of the pilots survived the crash, with one of the pilot’s parachutes getting stuck in a power line, according to Fox News 4.
