Marco Rubio went to bat for President Trump’s incoming national security adviser John Bolton after some in the media have dismissed the former United Nations ambassador as just a political pundit on TV.
“Ridiculous media freak out over John Bolton continues,” Rubio tweeted Tuesday morning. “It is a blatant lie to portray him as just some media pundit.”
Rubio said Bolton has more experience to be in his position than former Obama national security advisers Tom Donilon and Susan Rice.
“With years of combined experience at DOJ & StateDept he is, by far, more qualified than Tom Donilon or Susan Rice were when they got the same job under Obama,” he continued.

Trump announced Bolton would be replacing H.R. McMaster as his national security adviser last Thursday. Bolton, who served under George W. Bush, had previously been considered by Trump for secretary of state before Rex Tillerson was nominated for the position.
Last week, CNN referred to Bolton as a “talking head” and “Fox News commentator.”
