Mark Meadows: House will vote this week to pressure DOJ on Hillary Clinton documents

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., said Monday that the House will pass a resolution this week to pressure the Justice Department to turn over documents related to its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server, and the early stages of the Russia investigation.

“There’s going to be floor action this week,” Meadows said on Fox News. “We will be voting to compel DOJ and FBI to make sure that they get those documents.”

Meadows said Congress has subpoenaed the Justice Department for documents, but said it has only received 1,400 of the 50,000 documents it has demanded.

He said Republicans have asked the department whether it wants to be part of the coverup team, or the cleanup team, and said, “it’s obvious they’re going be part of the coverup team.”

“We think it’s about time,” he said of the planned House vote. “The speaker has given deadlines, we’ve given deadlines. We have a subpoena that was issued on March 22.”

Meadows and Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, introduced a resolution two weeks ago aimed at forcing the department to comply with the request for documents. That resolution, which is nonbinding, asks the department to comply with their request within 7 days.

Meadows said Republicans are looking for more texts between FBI agent Peter Strzok and his FBI lawyer mistress, Lisa Page, among other things.
