Trump: Missile attack could hit Syria ‘very soon’ or ‘not so soon at all’

President Trump on Thursday fired back at claims he is telegraphing his pending attack on Syria, by saying he never specified when an attack would be carried out following Syria’s suspected use of chemical weapons.

“Never said when an attack on Syria would take place. Could be very soon or not so soon at all!” Trump said in a tweet Thursday morning. “In any event, the United States, under my Administration, has done a great job of ridding the region of ISIS. Where is our “Thank you America?””

After Russia vowed to shoot down any missiles fired at Syria, Trump warned Wednesday that Moscow should be ready to act “because they will be coming,” after Russia implied it could shoot down a U.S. missile attack.

A chemical attack was carried out in Syria over the weekend that killed at least 40 people and affected more than 500 others who had to seek medical attention. The international community, including the U.S., blames Bashar Assad and his reime for the attack, and assumes that Russia was somehow involved.
