Secret Service Director Julia Pierson faced Congress on Tuesday morning to answer questions following a major security breach at the White House.
Earlier this month, Omar Gonzalez, a former U.S. solider with PTSD, scaled the White House fence, raced across the front lawn of the White House and made it through the front doors before being apprehended by Secret Service agents in the East Room. Pierson called the lapse in security inexcusable and vowed to make changes to enhance security procedures.
Gonzalez is believed to be the first person to climb the White House fence and make it through the front doors and into the actual building.
