State Dept revokes visas of foreigners who celebrated Charlie Kirk assassination

The Trump administration has begun revoking visas held by foreigners who celebrated the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk and warned that those who do so are “no longer welcome” in the United States, the Washington Examiner has learned.

The State Department announced Tuesday afternoon, just as President Donald Trump concluded a ceremony posthumously awarding Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom, that it had moved forward and canceled the visas of multiple foreign nationals who were in the country on a temporary basis and celebrated the Sept. 10 assassination, according to a State document reviewed by the Washington Examiner.

“President Trump and Secretary Rubio will defend our borders, our culture, and our citizens by enforcing our immigration laws,” the State document said. “Aliens who take advantage of America’s hospitality while celebrating the assassination of our citizens will be removed.”

“The United States has no obligation to host foreigners who wish death on Americans,” the State document continued. “The State Department continues to identify visa holders who celebrated the heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk.”

The State Department listed six examples of foreigners from Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, Paraguay, and South Africa who had been forced to return immediately to their home countries because of statements they had made about Kirk following his murder last month.

“An Argentine national said that Kirk ‘devoted his entire life spreading racist, xenophobic, misogynistic rhetoric’ and deserves to burn in hell. Visa revoked,” the State document stated.

“A South African national mocked Americans grieving the loss of Kirk, saying ‘they’re hurt that the racist rally ended in attempted martyrdom’ and alleging ‘he was used to astroturf a movement of white nationalist trailer trash,’” the State Department wrote. “Visa revoked.”

The State Department has also rescinded the visas of a Mexican national who said Kirk “died being a racist … and misogynist” and that he deserved “to die;” a Brazilian person who said Kirk “DIED TOO LATE;” a German individual who said “Democrats don’t complain … when fascists die,” and a Paraguayan national who said Kirk was a a “son of a b****” who “died by his own rules.”

The move follows a similar effort that the State Department launched earlier this spring to revoke the visas of foreign students in the U.S. who had endorsed the Hamas attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023.

In bestowing the award, the highest civilian honor in the United States, the White House recognized Kirk as one of the “great debaters and communicators of his time” and a “martyr for truth and freedom.”

Erika Kirk asked attendees of the award ceremony to remember that although “freedom is inherent in this country, each of us must be intentional stewards.”
